Why it can’t just be lifted onto a trailer
A four-to-six person hot tub weighs 600 to 900 pounds dry, and it’s a single rigid shell that won’t come apart on its own. Most sit on a concrete pad inside a deck, behind a gate that is narrower than the tub. There is usually no path out that a whole tub fits through.
So the job is demolition, not lifting. We drain it, strip the cabinet and equipment bay, cut the acrylic and fiberglass shell into sections with a reciprocating saw, and carry it out in pieces. That’s several hours of actual work, which is why it prices well above a furniture haul.
The electrical disconnect — read this part
Almost every hot tub is hardwired to a 240-volt circuit, usually through a GFCI disconnect box on a nearby wall or post. That has to be dead before anyone puts a saw into the cabinet.
If you can safely kill the dedicated breaker at your panel, that’s usually enough and we’ll verify it before we start. If the wiring is unclear, corroded, or there’s no obvious disconnect, we’ll ask you to have an electrician pull it first. We are not going to guess at a live 240 circuit, and you shouldn’t want us to.
What’s left when we’re done
The tub, the cabinet, the cover, the steps and the equipment all leave with us. We sweep the pad and haul the debris — there’s no pile left behind and no separate disposal bill.
Two things worth deciding up front: the concrete pad underneath usually stays unless you tell us otherwise, and if the tub is set into a deck, we can take the deck out at the same time. Doing both in one visit is meaningfully cheaper than booking them separately.
