How we work a garage so you don’t lose anything
The fear with a garage cleanout is that something you actually wanted ends up on the truck. So we don’t work that way. We walk it with you first, you flag anything that stays, and we work from the door inward so you can see every load go by.
Anything ambiguous — a box of paperwork, a toolbox, something that looks like it has value — gets set aside and shown to you instead of loaded. It costs us a few minutes and it means nobody gets a phone call two days later.
The stuff we have to leave behind
Garages are where hazardous material accumulates, and there’s a short list we legally can’t take: wet paint, paint thinner and solvents, pesticides and pool chemicals, motor oil, and propane tanks that aren’t fully purged.
The paint one has an easy fix. Pour kitty litter or paint hardener into the can, leave it open until it’s solid, and it stops being liquid waste — then we can take it. Do that a day before we come and it saves you a separate trip to a household hazardous waste event.

If you want it gone this afternoon without lifting anything, book the cleanout. If you’ve got a free weekend, don’t mind the labor, and want the lowest number, a 15-yard dumpster at $225 the first day and $25 after is cheaper.
